On the shop floor
For years, Björn managed a premium mattress and bedding store, helping customers find the right mattress and pillow. One frustration came up again and again: side sleepers could find a pillow that felt right in the store, but at home they were still adjusting it, folding it, or slipping an arm underneath to get the support they needed.
The recurring pattern
After hundreds of conversations, a pattern emerged. The issue was not one particular brand or model. It was what happened later in the night: many pillows lost their shape, shifted, or needed constant readjusting. That sparked the idea for a pillow built around the way side sleepers actually sleep.
The shape
The concept became clear: a shape-retaining pillow with a straight edge that fits closer to your shoulder and is less likely to shift or flatten. Designed for support that lasts through the night, not just a soft first impression.
Through the night
The rectangular shape was only half the solution. The pillow also needed to keep supporting you through the night. That is why SidePillow uses firm memory foam with a little give, so it feels comfortable without flattening as quickly as a soft, loose-fill pillow.
